TradingViewBuilder

TradingViewBuilder is a collection of TradingView indicators and strategies written in Pine Script, one file per technique. It is an AlgoÉTS repository for traders who want readable starting points for common technical rules that they can paste into the Pine Editor, apply to a chart and adjust.

1. Overview

Files ending in .indicator declare a study() (or indicator()) that only plots values. Files ending in .strategy declare a strategy() that also places strategy.entry orders on crossover rules:

TechniqueStrategy ruleFiles
EMA crossoverLong when EMA 9 crosses above EMA 21, short on the opposite crossema.strategy, ema.indcator
SMA crossoverBuy when SMA 10 crosses above SMA 20, close on the opposite crossmac.strategy
MACDLong/short on MACD (12, 26) crossing its 9-period signal linemacd.strategy, macd.indicator
RSILong when RSI 14 crosses above 30, short when it crosses below 70rsi.strategy, rsi.indicator
Bollinger BandsLong when the close crosses above the lower band (20, 2σ), short below the upper bandbollingerbands.strategy
Linear regressionSame band rule around a 20-bar linear regression ± 2 standard deviationslinearregression.strategy, linearregression.indicator
Relative Vigor IndexLong/short when RVI (10) crosses its 4-period signal linervi.strategy, rvi.indicator
Standard deviationBands at close ± 20-bar standard deviationstandarddeviation.strategy, standarddeviation.indicator

TimeSeriesMomentumEffect.strategy is a larger draft: it lists 60 futures contracts, measures each one’s return over 12 × 21 bars, goes long winners and short losers, and sizes positions with a volatility target and a leverage cap.

2. Use cases

Pine Script indicators and strategies (EMA, MACD, RSI, Bollinger, RVI …) to paste into TradingView.

Plot an indicator
TraderTradingView

Paste a .indicator file such as rsi.indicator or macd.indicator into the Pine Editor and add it to the chart to plot the series and its levels.

Test a crossover strategy
TraderTradingView

ema.strategy, mac.strategy and macd.strategy enter on a fast/slow or MACD/signal crossover and reverse or close on the opposite cross.

Trade band reversals
TraderTradingView

bollingerbands.strategy and linearregression.strategy go long when the close crosses above the lower band and short when it crosses below the upper band.

Trade oscillator signals
TraderTradingView

rsi.strategy trades RSI crosses of the 30 and 70 levels, and rvi.strategy trades crosses of the Relative Vigor Index and its signal line.

Tune script inputs
TraderTradingView

Each script declares input() values (lengths, multipliers, levels) that the README says to change from the gear icon on the chart.

Sketch a momentum portfolio
Trader

TimeSeriesMomentumEffect.strategy outlines a 12-month time-series momentum on 60 futures with volatility targeting and a leverage cap; it is a draft, not valid Pine.

2.1. Scenario: Backtest the RSI strategy on a chart

  1. Log in to TradingView, open a chart and click the Pine Editor tab.
  2. Copy the contents of rsi.strategy and paste it into the editor.
  3. Click Add to Chart: Long entries appear when RSI(14) crosses above 30 and Short entries when it crosses below 70.
  4. Open the gear icon to change RSI Length, Overbought Level or Oversold Level and compare the trades.
  5. Add rsi.indicator in a separate pane to see the oscillator with the same levels.

3. Getting started

There is nothing to install. The README’s steps are:

  1. Log in to TradingView and open the Pine Editor tab at the bottom of a chart.
  2. Copy the contents of a .indicator or .strategy file from this repository and paste it into the editor.
  3. Click Add to Chart (and Save to keep the script under a name).
  4. Use the gear icon next to the script label to change lengths, sources, levels and colours.

4. Repository guide

  • *.indicator (and ema.indcator): plotting-only versions of EMA, linear regression, MACD, RSI, RVI and standard deviation.
  • *.strategy: trading versions with entry rules for EMA, SMA crossover (mac), MACD, RSI, Bollinger Bands, linear regression, RVI and standard deviation.
  • TimeSeriesMomentumEffect.strategy: multi-asset time-series momentum draft.
  • README.md: list of techniques and the TradingView setup steps.
  • docs/about.md: placeholder page with a heading only.

5. Features

  • eight classic technical techniques, most available as both an indicator and a strategy;
  • adjustable inputs (input()) for every length, multiplier and threshold;
  • chart overlays: bands, moving averages, signal lines and overbought/oversold levels;
  • a written-out time-series momentum idea with volatility targeting.

6. Limits

  • Most files target Pine Script v4. mac.strategy declares @version=5 but uses v4 calls, and ema.indcator declares @version=4 but uses v5 calls (indicator, input.int, ta.ema); either version header needs changing before they compile.
  • standarddeviation.strategy compares close with close ± std; since the bands always sit on either side of the close, the crossover conditions never fire and the strategy places no trades as written.
  • TimeSeriesMomentumEffect.strategy uses syntax that Pine does not accept (brace-delimited functions, length() on arrays), so it reads as pseudocode rather than a runnable script.
  • The README calls RVI the “Relative Volatility Index”, but the code computes the Relative Vigor Index; mac.strategy is not listed in the README, and ema.indcator has a typo in its extension.
  • Strategies enter and reverse on opposite signals (only mac.strategy closes instead); there are no stops, position sizing or commission settings, and the repository contains no backtest results.

7. Sources

8. CI/CD pipeline

No CI/CD pipeline in the repository. The code is built and run by hand, as described above.

Generated from the source at commit 2b5bed6.

9. Deployment diagram

The repository has no Dockerfile, Compose file or hosting configuration, so the code runs on the machine that clones it.

10. External dependencies

The repository declares no external packages: it has no manifest such as pyproject.toml, requirements.txt, package.json or pom.xml.

11. Glossary

Repository

The versioned source files, configuration, and history of a project.

README

The repository’s entry document, usually covering its purpose and initial setup.

Dependency

A library, tool, or service that another component needs to build or run.

HTTP

A request-and-response protocol used by browsers and web services. A method, path, headers, and optional body describe a request.

CLI

A text interface in which commands and arguments select operations. Exit codes let scripts detect success or failure.

Build

The steps that turn source files and dependencies into a runnable program or distributable artifact.
